CITY OF COTABATO: The Ministry of Health (MoH) collected a total of 60 blood bags during a mobile blood donation program held on Wednesday June 22 at the Cotabato Regional Medical Center (CRMC) in that city. Dr Ehsan Paudac said this is part of the celebration of World Blood Donor Day and also aims to ensure sufficient blood supply in the region. The bleeding activity was organized by the non-communicable diseases cluster of the Ministry of Health led by Paudac, in partnership with the CRMC. The donors were employees of the various BARMM regional offices. The CRMC collected and stored blood donations. “We want to raise awareness that blood donations play a vital role in preserving life and promoting loneliness in Bangsamoro communities,” Paudac said. “The celebration also serves to raise awareness of the need for safe blood in the Bangsamoro region and to encourage more people to give freely,” he added. Paudac further declared that World Blood Day blood donor is celebrated every June 14. However, he mentioned that the activity was postponed later “due to the conduct of other equally important activities. “We will continue what we have started because we all know that every drop of blood can save a life in emergency situations,” he said. The celebration of World Blood Donor Day in the Philippines this year is themed, “Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives,” said Paudac.
